B-36D Specifications

This project is the biggest under taking I have taken on, design started in may of 1998 when I acquired some cheap bad quality drawings that I used to produce the first CAD drawings I had ever drawn. The first 3D drawings were drawn in 2003. To-date I have around 200 design hours in this airframe. The original design called for 6 gas burning 40Cc engines turning 20" props on shafts. I used test bearing out of a H&H loft block, the bearings worked great, but the shafting failed, then after about 25 hours of design we realized that the gas motors were to heavy to ever hit target weight goals. So the project was shelved. In 2005 the electric motor development for larger radio control aircraft made it possible to turn a 20" prop with a pitch over 12 at over 3850 RPM, this made it possible to produce this aircraft at a weight under 85 pounds. So in the summer of 2006 design went back into full speed, my family and work made it imposable to get the design done any fast than it did.

The airframe has been test in the simulator (X-plane) and she stalls at 19mph, cruise at 35, and Max's out at 54mph. At cruise power with 5100 mAh Lipo's she will have a flight time of 13 minutes with a reserve of 3 minutes.

The Companies that have given great support on my B-36D project:

CJM

Though nothing has been donated or given to the B-36D project I do want to thank these companies for their support in

discounts, and their technical support with making their products work with my design.

I do have to thank one unknown person that sent me some aerospace grade carbon fiber tow, Thanks! It has been used well.
