Would you pay a buck for a hoist or rigging system!

The higher priced bid is the winner!

As many people who know me knows, I support Consultants, Architects, and Engineers in supporting their designs with the hoist that the company I work for manufactures. These hoist are primarily used in the Entertainment industry and College and High School theatres. It is funny how I always here "boy that hoist is a lot of money", yep, they can be, but these hoist are expected to be run by lay people that operate the theatre for many, many years. These hoist are supporting tens of thousands of pounds under a load full time. I see A&E firms always being told that there are better options that cost much less. Well every time I have seen the A&E go with the other product they see within months and years that they should have gone with the hoist that cost a little more. Keep in mind, most of the people standing under these hoist are our children.

Enron equipment manufacturers

It is funny how many companies think they can manufacture anything. Just because they get bigger than Enron. I see companies that have been manufacturing light sockets and other lighting specialties think they can manufacture rigging by just jumping in with both feet. There have been 3 companies in the 80's and 90's that tried this and never made much of an impact on moving a lot of product, or having happy clients. If you really want a product with an engineer solution then look to a company that has done one thing and one thing good for over 25 years, and if you can find one that has done it for over 100, then that's the company for you.

Beware of the manufacturer with the rubber duck!

I have seen in the last 10 years companies that have stated "in business for over ????? years" well they neglected to tell you that they had gone bankrupt, closed, assets re-purchased, then sold because they were going under again. And what is even more incredible is that the gang that did this to these companies the first time were hired again to do the same thing the next time around. Next they get a sales network of non-experts to spread the word, "in business for over ?????years".  The facts are if you are going to expect the best for the buck you are most likely going to go to a specialty company that has been in continuous business over 120+, if you just need the rubber duck product you can go to Walmart, you know the gang that is trying to sell everything under the sun.
