Selling?

It does not matter if you are a Rocket Scientists, Theatre Consultant, A&E, or a Tire Manufacturer manufacturing tires for shopping carts you have to be selling to someone.

I see technical companies always trying to use engineers as sales persons. I once observed a meeting where an engineer for a aviation company was explaining the avionics on a new aircraft said to a perspective customer that he didn't care how many people purchased their aircraft, his concern was that they worked safely, the perspective customer said "you might care who buys them if you want us to understand and fly them". The perspective customer was surprised that the engineer didn't understand that basic need to educate the customer.

I have seen people say "here comes that rep again", I wonder if school systems say, here comes that A&E again trying to sell us on their firm again. We all sell, I like to call it support, but we are all selling something, the difference is, are we good sales people, or bad sales people. The good ones have a client base that calls them saying I need support, the bad ones are the ones that the sales person is always the one calling clients asking for an appointment.
